Purpose
This policy is designed to allow residents reasonable flexibility in arranging and personalising their rooms while maintaining safety, cleanliness, functionality, and the overall standards of the hostel.
1. Vastu Preferences
- —Residents may organise and arrange their room according to personal Vastu preferences, provided that:
- —No permanent alterations are made to the room.
- —Hostel property, furniture, walls, or fixtures are not damaged.
- —Safety regulations are fully maintained.
2. Permitted Room Customisation
Residents may:
- —Rearrange movable furniture within the room
- —Use removable décor items such as:
- —Posters and artwork
- —Indoor plants
- —Mirrors
- —Study lamps
- —Soft furnishings and bedding accessories
- —Small spiritual or decorative items
- —Use removable adhesive hooks or tapes that do not damage surfaces
- —Add personal organisers or storage accessories within the allotted space
3. Prohibited Activities
The following are strictly prohibited inside rooms without written approval from management:
- —Drilling, nailing, or damaging walls/furniture
- —Painting or wallpaper installation
- —Structural or electrical modifications
- —Installation of permanent fixtures
- —Use of candles, incense, diyas, or any open flames
- —Removal or replacement of hostel-provided furniture
- —Hanging heavy items from ceilings or walls
4. Safety & Cleanliness
- —Residents must ensure that room customisation:
- —Does not block ventilation, lighting, or emergency access
- —Maintains cleanliness and hygiene standards
- —Does not create fire or electrical hazards
- —Does not disturb roommates or neighbouring residents
5. Damage Responsibility
- —Any damage caused due to room customisation or rearrangement shall be chargeable to the resident.
- —Residents are required to restore the room to its original condition at the time of move-out.
- —Repair or restoration costs may be deducted from the security deposit.
6. Management Rights
Hostel management reserves the right to:
- —Inspect rooms periodically
- —Restrict or remove unsafe or non-compliant items
- —Require restoration of the room if standards are violated
- —Amend this policy as necessary for operational or safety purposes
7. Acceptance
- —By occupying the room, residents agree to comply with this Room Vastu & Interior Customisation Policy.
